As you are aware, our next summer conference of CSI Kerala Chapter will be held on May 7th & 8th 2011 at Hotel Udayasamudhra, Trivandrum. The General body meeting of CSI Kerala Chapter is scheduled to be held on May 8th 2011 at 1 pm. The last executive committee meeting of CSI Kerala Chapter was held on 6th February 2011 at Kerala Heart House. The committee has accepted the following bye law amendments, which will be presented in the GBM for ratification.

1. Change of address of the society.
2. The term of secretary and treasurer will be a period of two years. Secretary and treasurer can be re elected to a period of maximum of two years. The immediate past secretary cease to exist as an executive committee member in case of re election of the existing secretary. A new executive committee member will be elected from the GBM to fill the place vacated by the immediate past secretary in the executive committee.

Several issues encountered in our day to day practice as well as some recent advances in Cardiology will be covered in this one day conference. Management of asymptomatic severe aortic stenosis, changing scenario of Rheumatic fever and rheumatic heart disease and management of Low HDL are some of the topics which have been included. A symposium on rare cardiomyopathies – Takatsubo cardiomyopathy, LV non compaction and peri partum cardiomyopathy is also planned. There will be a debate session on indication for ICD for patients with low LV ejection fraction. Current status of Ivabradine in clinical practice will be discussed. A session on “Future of Cardiology” dealing with how an acute myocardial infarction will be managed in 2020 will be an added attraction.
